WELLNESS COORDINATOR


Wellness Coordinators to begin in January 2010. WCs will be hired in the following locations:
Summit Hall
Brooke Tower
Braxton Tower

The undergraduate Wellness Coordinator position at West Virginia University was created to provide students with educational wellness experiences designed to encourage a healthy lifestyle. The Wellness Coordinator is a live-in staff member of the Residential Education program. The Wellness Coordinator will serve as the liaison between Residential Education and the university residence halls, the Student Recreation Center, and Student Wellness Services. The Wellness Coordinator will encourage and promote healthy living through active planning of, participation in, and recruitment for Residential Education, Student Wellness Services, and Student Recreation Center programs and activities. Graduate Wellness Coordinators will be assigned additional programming and administrative duties by the RHC.
The Wellness Coordinator (WC) will:
1. Plan programs for the students and staff of the residence hall:
Organize teams for and participate in the Student Recreation Center (SRC) intramural program according to the expectations of the SRC and the WC supervisor.
Plan two fitness activities for the assigned residence hall per semester. A list of approved activities will be provided.
Plan a monthly wellness program for the assigned residence hall during the semester. A list of approved programs will be provided.
Help coordinate and facilitate the inter-residence hall competition (Campus Cup Challenge).
2. Recruit and market wellness activities for no fewer than 6 hours a week:
Set-up an information table in the main lobby (or designated area) of the residence hall twice a week or go onto the various residence hall floors.
Develop marketing materials for wellness events and advertise throughout the hall.
Provide information about all wellness events, programs, and activities, including intramurals, exercise classes, and educational/wellness seminars. Must have information concerning location, hours of operation, times of events, rules, policies, and procedures.
Provide residents with information related to employment and volunteer opportunities at the Student Recreation Center and Student Wellness Services.
Provide materials and handouts obtained from the Student Wellness Services at information tables and through the creation of bulletin boards about various topics such as STDs, eating disorders, mental health, etc.
3. Complete the following administrative tasks:
Keep a log of residence hall activities as well as data on student participation in these programs and intramurals.
Attend all hall council and staff meetings and communicate with residence hall staff about programs and events.
Submit wellness-related articles to the monthly residence hall newsletter.
Be available and accessible to students and attend individual floor meetings on a rolling basis.

Resident Assistants are being hired immediately for the Spring 2010 Semester. The Office of Residential Education is accepting applications.
Primary Functions:
1. Provide personal help and assistance to residents.
2. Promote the growth and development of students.
3. Manage and facilitate groups.
4. Maintain an orderly and reasonably quiet environment.
5. Explain and enforce rules and regulations.
6. Keep students informed and, when necessary, direct them to appropriate referral sources.
Requirements:
1. Must be a full time student at WVU.
2. Must maintain a minimum 2.5 undergraduate cumulative grade point average and a 3.0 graduate cumulative grade point average at the time of assumption of duties.
3. Must serve in the residence hall assigned.
4. Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
5. Must be a second year student with at least 29 credit hours.
6. Must live in the assigned residence hall.

The Resident Assistant position provides for a room and meals. This is considered to be a resource for purposes of financial aid and scholarship processing and can impact other aid programs and/or scholarships for which a student might otherwise qualify.

Upward Bound is hiring a Math/Science Tutor.* Upward Bound is currently hiring one energetic and dedicated tutor to provide academic assistance to high school students during the2010 Spring Semester. We are currently seeking a tutor who demonstrates a high level of knowledge in: Chemistry, Biology, Algebra II, Trig, and Calculus. The ideal candidate would be comfortable tutoring in all of these areas at a high school level. Qualified tutors should also feel comfortable assisting with general homework problems in other subjects including: Composition, Civics, and History.
